    • Henry Fred Renze
      Funeral services for Henry Fred Renze, 98, of Odebolt, formerly of Arthur, were Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt with Father David Hemann officiating. Burial was in the St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery. Henry Fred Renze was born on December 13, 1913, at Roselle, Carroll County, Iowa. He was the son of Fred and Mary (Tunning) Renze. He attended Holy Angels Catholic School in Roselle through the sixth grade where he resided frequently with the nuns.On January 7, 1941 Henry was united in marriage to Emily Louise Bauer at St. Martin's Catholic Church. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Arthur where they raised their family of seven children; Floyd, Shirley, Ellen, Fred, Patricia, Mary, and Francis. They retired and moved to Arthur in 1986. After Emily's death in November of 2011, he continued to reside in his own home until the past month when he resided at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center.Henry was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt since 1940. It was in this church that he first saw the love of his life, Emily Bauer.Henry liked going to the farm even when he no longer lived there. He liked going to the sale barn to visit with a lot of old friends. When he no longer could go to the sale barn, he watched the cattle auctions on the RFD channel. Henry liked riding horses, fishing, playing cards, and dancing.Henry died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.Preceding Henry in death were his parents, his wife of more than 70 years, Emily, his sister Margaret, and brothers Frank and Norbert.Survivors include his seven children; Floyd and his wife Arlis Renze of Ida Grove, Shirley and her husband Pat Scanlan of Kiron, Ellen and her husband Eldon Pfleeger of Ida Grove, Fred and his wife JoAnn Renze of Galva, Patricia and her husband Ray Coenen of Omaha, NE, Mary and her husband Charlie Holthus of Lisco, NE, and Francis "Pete" and his wife Vickie Renze of Arthur. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, his brother Leo Renze of Carroll, sisters Minnie Bauer of Mapleton, Loretta Schultes of Carroll, Regina Schultes of Carroll, and Lucille Wittrock of Audubon, and other relatives and friends.
