<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">From the Odebolt Chronicle January 1st, 1948</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Funeral Held Tuesday for Mrs. John Bauer </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">The people of Odebolt were saddened Saturday evening, Dec. 20 when they learned of the untimely death of Mrs. John Bauer after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church, Ida Grove, Tuesday morning, December 23, 1947 with the Rev. Father P. J. Dailey of Wall Lake reading the requiem high mass. Interment was made in the St. Martin's cemetery at Odebolt. Pall bearers were Joe Roeder, John Miller, John Glass, John Taphorn, Barney Hazelhoff and William Thieltges.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Katherince Anna Landgraf, daughter of George and Elizabeth Landgraf was born on a farm</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">southeast of Odebolt December 29, 1891 and passed away at her home northwest of Arthur at 7:30p. m. December 20, 1947 at the age of 55 years 11 months and 22 days.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">She received her education at St. Martin's parochial school in Odebolt. In October 1909 she was united in marriage to John Bauer at Odebolt and they lived on farms around Odebolt and Arthur all of their married life with the exception of two years when they lived near Holstein.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">There were nine children born to this union, two of which died in infancy.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Those who mourn the passing of Mrs. John Bauer, besides her</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">husband are seven children, Mrs. Leslie Bretey (Bernice) of Odebolt, Earl, near Arthur, Myron,</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Wayne and Mrs. Harlan Wilcke (Leona) all of Ida Grove. Walter, at home with his father and Mrs. Henry Renze (Emily) of Arthur, three sisters, Mrs. Josephine</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Berkonmeier and Mrs. Walter Duffy of Odebolt and Mrs. Charles Auchsetter of Marcus; three brothers. Will of Early, Albert of Odebolt and John of Storm Lake</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">and fifteen grandchildren.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Mrs. Bauer will be remembered by many for her kind words and actions. Her first thought was always for her husband and her children, and she was loved by everyone who knew her. While</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">her health had not been very good for many years, she was always an industrious woman and willing to help others whenever she could.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Dinner was served at the home of her sister, Mrs Josephine Berkenmeoer. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral and dinner were Mr. and Mrs Charles Auchsetter of Marcus, Mrs. Gunnard Johnson of Pierson, Mr. and Mrs John Landgraph and daughters of Storm Lake, Mr. and Mrs Pete Bauer of Pocahontas, Mr. and Mrs. John Kaiser, Mrs. John Tjaden and Mrs. Jake Tjaden of Wall Lake. Many other friends and relatives also attend the funeral from early, Ida Grove, Arthur, and Odebolt.</p>
