•
Pioneer Resident Buried Monday This community was deeply saddened to hear o f the death of our beloved pioneer resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Landgraf Dinges, who died Saturday morning, Aug . 3. at three o'clock, after a brief illness. Her requiem high mass was celebrated Monday morning at St. Martin's church, by the Rev . Father A . G. Schaefer. The Christian Mother society of which she was a faithful member, attended in a body. She was laid to rest in the St. Martin's cemetery at the side of her first husband, George Landgraf. Pall bearers were A. R. Peterson, John Veit. John Grasser, Joe Roeder, Jed Worden and Barney Hazelhoff. Mrs. Dingcs had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who knew her. She spent many pleasant hours knitting and crocheting priceless articles. Elizabeth Kaiser was born Dec . 8, 1868, at Gelhausen, Germany. At the age of 13 she came to America with he r parents and lived in Sac county the rest of her life. In 1885 she was united in marriage to George Landgraf and seven children were born to this union, William of Early, Mrs. Josephine Berkenmeier of Schaller, Albert of Early, Mrs. John (Kathorinc) Bauer; of Arthur, Mrs. Charles (Emma ) Auchstetter of Marcus, Mrs. Walter (Amelia ) Duffy of Odebolt, and John of Storm Lake, all of whom were present for the last rites. Only 17 years of happiness together with their family was permitted them as Mr. Landgraf died in 1903. But Mrs. Landgraf was faithful in fulfilling her obligations and cared for her children on her farm three mile s east of Odebolt until they were grown. In 1915 she married Joseph Dinges Sr. and they enjoyed life together for 28 years. Mr. Dinges passed away July 12, 1943. Since then, she has kept her own home and for the past year she has been tenderly cared for by her faithful companion, Mrs. Mary Currie. She leaves to mourn besides her seven children, 39 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud. A sister, Mrs. John Tjaden and a brother, John Kaiser, both of Wall Lake, also survive. Relatives from a distance were Mr. -and Mrs. Charles Auchstetter and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Treptow and daughter, Ginger Ann , Mar[1]cus; Mr. and Mrs. Gunnard Johnson and son, Ronald, Pierson; Mr. and Mrs. Harold G.
