Notes - Mrs. Edith Paul, who has been a resident of this community since early childhood, and was a woman who was highly esteemed by many friends, passed away at her home on Park Avenue at '6:00 o'clock Monday evening, December 32.
Mrs. Paul suffered a stroke of paralysis nine years ago last spring, and has never been well since that time, though she has at times been able to go out and enjoy social life among her friends to a certain extent. Since early in September she has seen much worse, and failed gradually in these later weeks, until Thursday, when she became ill with pneumonia, and the end came quickly. She was ready and anxious to go, and had no fear.
Memorial services were held yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the house, and at 2:00 o'clock at the church, with Bev J A. Farnham, her pastor, conducting the service. Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Lindskoog, Mrs. O E. Erickson, and M. E. Lindskoog sang, "Beautiful Me of Somewhere," and Mr. and Mrs. Lindskoog sang "Whispering Hope." Miss Minnie Kessler was the accompanist. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Odebolt cemetery. Those who carried her body to its last resting place were nephews, namely: Lawrence and William Story, Veryl and Lyle Paul, Walton Sargesson, and Ralph Wade.

Minnie Edith Shelden was born in Linn county, Iowa, June 6, 1876, and at her death had reached the age of fifty-six years, six months, and six days. She came to this county with her parents in 1877, and her home has been in Wheeler township and Odebolt since that time.
On February 18, 1896 she was united in marriage with Allie J. Paul, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1929. The family resided on the farm in Wheeler township until about twenty-four years ago, when they moved to the present home in town.
Mrs. Paul was the mother of seven children, Verne, Archie, Grace, Winnie, Milton, Thelma and Amy, all of this place, and all left to mourn the passing of this loving and devoted mother. Her going leaves a sad vacancy in the home and in the hearts of many friends. She also leaves five brothers and- one sister: Raymond Shelden of Brookfield, Mo.; Ned of Tex-homa, Okla.; Wayne of Seymour, Mo.; Harley and Claire of Springfield, Colo, and Mrs. Will Story of Odebolt.
Mrs. Paul united with the Methodist church in 1896, and has been a faithful and conscientious Christian woman and mother. While her health permitted she was active in the church, and was always interested in the various activities. She was a member of the Isis club, and of the Legion Auxiliary, members of that organization attending the funeral in a body. The family have the deepest sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Relatives and friends from a distance who came for the funeral were: Mrs. Ted Reilley of Merrill; Mrs. C. F. Clary of Sioux City; Mrs. Paul Sargesson and Mr. and Mrs. Walton Sargesson, Luton; Mr. and Mrs. Alden Fineran and Mrs. Tim Fineran of Corsica, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Veryl Paul of Sioux City; Lloyd Paul of Perry; Miss Helen Kessler of Fort Dodge, and Mrs. H. L. Woodward of Sioux City.
