M e m o r i a l rites for Mrs. Jacob Bauer were held at 9 a.m , Friday morning at St. Martin's church, with Rev. Father A . G. Schacfer conducting the services. T h e pall bearers were John and N i c h o l a s Bauer, Paul Gronemcyer John Miller of Arthur, and N i c k and William Thioltges of Danbury, all nephews. Interment j was made in the St. Martin's cemetery. K a t h e r i n o Henkel was born June 25, 1861, in L e e county, 111., and passed away a t 1:45 p. m. at her home in Odebolt, Wednesday June 12, 1035, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and I8 days. She g r e w to womanhood in Illinois and was united in marriage there to Christian Bauer, November 8, 1881. They came to this lo- cality in the early years of their married life, living on a farm northwest of, Odebolt, and in the Arthur territory. Here Mr. Bauer passed away Dec. 4, 1918. On Sept. 26, 1927, Mrs. Bauer was married to Jacob Bauer of Odebolt, and has resided in town since that time. Her health has been failing for some time, but she was confined, to her bed but a few days. Her death came quite unexpectedly to her family and friends. Mrs. Bauer was a good woman, a good wife and mother. She was reared in the Catholic church, and was a faithful and devotedmember of that church throughout her life. She was the mother of seven children, George died October, 1920, William died in 1897, and five are left, with the husband, to mourn her death. The children are Jacob and Otto of Odebolt, Frances, (Mrs. Ray Wintz ) of Danbury, Bernard and Cecelia (Mrs Henry Mattingly of St. Louis. There are also 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs Jacob  Auchstetter of Mendoia, Ill, one step daughter and five step sons. The family has tho sympathy of many friends in this bereavement Relatives from a distance who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Benard Bauer and Mrs Henry Mattingly of St. Louis, the Ray Wintz family of Danbury,   Mrs. Jacob Auchstetter and son Harold of Mendota, 111., Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bauer of Hartley, and Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Bauer of   Carroll. Friends were present from nearby towns.
